Norway Poised To Bite The Apple
By Charlie | February 1st, 2007 in News |The Apple interoperability debate just won’t go away. In Norway it seems there’s been some progress. In case you’re out of the loop, some consumer organisations around the world have expressed dissatisfaction about how iTunes only operates with iPods. They say it should be able to work with any MP3 player. The laws of some countries actually state this in their trade descriptions.
The Ombudsman in Norway has written to Apple demanding they remove the DRM or come to court to settle the matter. Sweden also has similar views and it’s believed that Germany and France will join the bun fight when it all kicks off. This case has much wider implications for other brands that are beginning to dominate the way we digitally consume. I imagine Google are watching this one quite closely.

I believe this matter is rather of political nature,
than about sheer consumerism …
a modification of iTunes in favor of other 3rd party devices would be a significant breakthrough, … that I’d appreciate.
