We started noWax on a whim back in 2003. It took off quite sharply and took us a little by surprise.

People all over the place started wanting to put on their own one, so we let them.

All the other hosts called it noWax and we put their nights on the one website and did mail-outs announcing the next parties.

We started writing about digital music in a weekly newsletter which got up to a subscription level of 2,500

The Baile Funk and Baltimore scenes are reliant on sampling well know records creating bootlegs as was popular in England a few years back. The difference now is that these tracks are cut up beautifully, not merely creating one record from two but more crafting a remix which contains some of the original flavour but takes it to a whole new place. Shake It Up is based on Twist And Shout by The Beatles. Diplo has turned one of the greatest party records into the devil’s dildo. Yup, it’s really gonna mess you up. The beat has been cut up so much it forms an entirely new rhythm while still holding the core of the tune together. It’s blinding. You may have to hunt a little to track it down, but it’s worth it.
