History

We started noWax on a whim back in 2003. It took off quite sharply and took us a little by surprise.

People all over the place started wanting to put on their own one, so we let them.

All the other hosts called it noWax and we put their nights on the one website and did mail-outs announcing the next parties.

We started writing about digital music in a weekly newsletter which got up to a subscription level of 2,500

noWax has been a pretty big success. We were certainly the biggest MP3jing night in the world with over 400 nights globally. Thousands of people read our weekly email, came to the nights and had a good time.

What we’re doing now
We always had a peer-2-peer philosophy with noWax. We shared the night with anyone else who wanted to run one. We have decided to go one stage further and let it go completely, jettisoning the little fella into the big bad world for all to abuse, ignore or play with. Anyone can still put on a noWax if they choose to. All the graphics and instructions are available here to download.

Last Party
We are having a final party in London on July 4th in Jaguar Shoes in East London where the night began four years ago, almost to the day. Of course everyone is welcome. Bring your iPod / MP3 player!

How do a noWax
First thing you should do is download the instruction sheet PDF on the instructions page. Once you’ve read the instructions, all you need to host a noWax is contained on this page. On the right are all the links to downloads for all the practical things you need like flyers, posters and tickets. Underneath the links are the resources you should use to promote your night. All that we ask is that you endeavor to:

• Post photos of your noWax on your personal sites and tag them ‘noWax’
• Post the link to your site in a comment to this post
